Ride The Lights - Blackpool 2012

So, we take a step back in time, because we couldn't not share with you Velocipedinerian's photos of Ride The Lights - Blackpool of August 2012.

Great stuff V!

{What? Are you saying Blackpool isn't Manchester? That's true, but there's no Blackpool Cycle Chic established yet and the photos were too good to miss, so just sit back, relax and enjoy!}
Titled by V: "Rush hour in Utopia". Too right!

And the piece of resistance (imho)

Velvet elegance {from October Tweed Ride}

You can never go wrong with a warm, velvet jacket and this gentleman carries it just fine! Looks like a classic vintage he's riding too.

Thanks to Velocipedinerian for sharing.

Tweed Ride Manchester (05.10.12)

Velocipedinarian (phew!) has shared many excellent photos of the last Manchester's Tweed Ride (5th of October.

They are so good, we'll be sharing them over few posts... they will brighten us up as we move towards winter!

1st Instalment... enjoy!

Leaving the cafe (Withworth Street)
By the way, we find that our bikes inspire us to dress our best every day. You?

Thanks to Broxrider for sharing this! A bit of laid back American cruiser on the street of Manchester (I wonder if the bike is from RideLow?)

Raleigh Shopper

Here at MCRCycleChic we are real aficionados of Raleigh Shopper bikes (and its sister the Twenty), so we were delighted to receive this entry on our Flickr group by Velocipedinarian.

Waiting...

I thought I had missed that shot as she coasted past me, instead it worked out for the better!

Probably one of my favourite shots yet... cycle chic bien sûr!

Static cycle chic

It may not be cycling in motion, it may not even have a cyclist on it... but we couldn't resist from posting it! Thanks Velocipedinerian.

Heels and Bicycles - a match made in heaven

Often, well nearly all the time, we get asked "How can you cycle in *those* heels?"

Well, we'll let you into a little secret...

Cycling in heels is easier and more comfortable than walking in them. Indeed! You push on the pedals with the ball of your foot, therefore the heel does not hinder cycling.

Walk 10 minutes in heels and your legs will be killing you, cycle in them and you'll arrive at your destination as fresh as a rose!

It's all about... Albert Square!

Now that I have discovered the perfect sunny bench in Albert Square, I have found that it's also a perfect place to spot many great cyclists.

This is what I captured sitting for just 10 minutes on a sunny Sunday.

Chilled cycling... why be in a rush on such gorgeous day uh?!

What a great junction view! No cars, just bikes.

Matching your top to your handle bars... must be cycle love.

Great cycle chic, if you ask me!

Sunshine

So after about 4 weeks a non-stop rain and autum-like weather, the sun has finally returned.

Unfortunately armed only with my camera phone, the quality may not be great, but still expresses a nice stream of bikes.

Taken from a sunny bench in Albert Square.

Red bike, red rucksack

Brompton in style!

Graceful rider... badly cut off by... bus!

So, although there are good signs in Manchester of people cycling in everyday clothes, going from A to B... there's still little sign that respect on the road is no way near being achieved.

We just hope that she wasn't put off by cycling.

When will things change?

What a delight to see!

©Broxrider [how can these kind of conditions encourage cycling in Manchester?]
While this... not so much!

With big thanks to Broxrider for sharing.

Out from hibernation [we hope!]

Mad Cycle Lanes of  Manchester has made a good point that MCR Cycle Chic had gone awfully quite for the past three months.

Indeed.

Between the current 'editors' (bloggers, posters, you call us what you like) running many other things as well as holding down normal jobs and the dreary days of winter, not much cycling action has been captured.

Let's hope that with these recent timid days of spring we have been experiencing, we will bounce back to activity too!

Once again, we refresh our request that all of you, dear Manchester cyclists, kindly contribute to our Flickr group, so that we can have a bigger pool of cycling inspiration.

Any photos which will then be posted here will be dutifully credited.

Here we start with a cracking bike and a cycling ensemble by Velocipedinerian. Thanks!
